JATM's mission is to disseminate scientific, technological and management research results related to the aerospace area. It enables open online access to all its content, free of charge, and promotes the global exchange of knowledge.

JATM was created in 2009 with Brig. Eng. Francisco Pantoja, director of Instituto de Aeronáutica e Espaço. Since September 2011, it has been edited by the Departamento de Ciência e Tecnologia Aeroespacial. To become a journal representing knowledge in science and aerospace technology, JATM has searched for partnerships with other institutions in the same field from the beginning. In January 2014, an important step was achieved, and JATM merged with the Journal of Aerospace Engineering and Applications (JAESA), edited by Associação Aeroespacial Brasileira.

To become self-sustainable, JATM adopted in 2020 the Article Processing Charge for the approved manuscripts. The correspondence author will be asked to contribute to the Article Processing Charge for all accepted manuscripts.  The value is fixed per article, independent of its length and is R$ 800,00 (in Brazilian reais) or U$300.00 (in American dollars). In exceptional cases, the editorial board may waive a contribution upon reasonable request.

The JATM governance is registered in PORTARIA DCTA Nº 37/DPJ (September 2nd, 2020).

Open Science Compliance

JATM provides immediate open access to its content, based on the Gold Open Access model, which states that making research freely available supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

All manuscripts must be submitted with the Open Science Compliance Form as a supplementary file, where the author informs whether the manuscript cites data, software codes and other materials underlying the articles. If so, the respective URLs must be informed to be accessible to peer reviewers.

The authors' identities are public, and JATM allows the reviewers to open their identities, allowing them to contact the authors during the peer review process.

Ethics in Publication

JATM is committed to the best practices on ethics in the management of manuscripts, which involves editors, reviewers and authors and adopts the "SciELO Guidelines on Best Practices for Strengthening Ethics in Scientific Publication", "Principles of Transparency and Good Practice in Academic Publications" recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and the guidelines of  Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA).

Focus and Scope

The Journal of Aerospace Technology and Management (JATM) is an open-access journal devoted to research and management on different aspects of aerospace technologies.

Digital Preservation

JATM follows the standards defined in the SciELO Program Digital Preservation Policy.
